Free Breakfast & Lunch

Dear Parent/Guardian:

We are committed to providing every student in our school community with all the tools they need to succeed. That is why we are excited to announce that this year, we are using a new school meal program option to offer school breakfast and lunch every day to all students at no charge. (Except the Snack Bar) All children enrolled in our school can eat for free and there is no application required! 

I am writing to share with you this exciting news and to ask that you help us ensure our meal program is a success by having your child participate in school breakfast and lunch every single school day. It is important that everyone participate in our universal meal program because…

PARTICIPATING IN SCHOOL BREAKFAST AND LUNCH HELPS YOUR SCHOOL AND YOUR COMMUNITY. 

The more students who participate in school lunch and breakfast, the more money our school receives in federal reimbursement for meals served. More money coming into our meal program allows us to purchase more fresh and nutritious foods, while securing the financial stability of our school meal program.

Participating in school breakfast and lunch helps provide nutritious food for your children at school so they can concentrate better and learn more and saves you valuable time and money at home.

School Breakfast Program

 
Casa Grande Union High School District is committed to ensuring that all of our students start the day with a healthy breakfast. Kids who eat breakfast tend to perform better in school, have better attendance rates, and display fewer behavior problems. We know that morning routines can be hectic and many kids aren’t hungry when they wake up. This is exactly why we provide breakfast every morning in a way that allows all students to participate, even after the bell.

There are many great things about our improved breakfast program. In addition to having access to a nutritious breakfast, eating with classmates every morning creates a community experience, and it takes pressure off parents and caretakers to provide breakfast in the morning. The NO KID HUNGRY starts with Breakfast resource is a great way to find out more about the benefits of breakfast, including how kids who eat breakfast do better in math, miss fewer days of school, and are more likely to graduate high school than their peers who don’t eat breakfast regularly.

Dinner Service

Food Service offers a dinner service for all students. This includes all sports teams, clubs, and activities after school. We serve a full dinner, and it is FREE for all students who would like one. Meals are served in the CGUHS and VGHS cafeterias on Mondays 3:15-4:00 PM, Wednesdays 1:15-2:00 PM, and Fridays 3:15-4:00 PM. If participation grows, we can expand the days and times. If you run activities on those days and times in the cafeteria, if possible, please set up away from the doors. Any after-school sponsors or coaches who are interested in feeding their students and athletes will have a grab bag option. We need to know how many students, their names, and the student IDs of those participating. We are also available to do pre-game (hot meals) and game-day meals (lunch bags). Grab bag meals will be handed out and counted by the supervising instructor or coach. It is required that Tammy Darang is notified of all participants in order to track the number of meals given out. A list of students or a roster of students that will receive those meals will assist in keeping an accurate count. Please relay the information to your coaches or school staff.
