(CGUHS) Ayana Renteria was recognized Monday, September 9, as the Career & Technical Education (CTE) Student of the Month during the district’s Governing Board meeting. Ayana was nominated by her CTE Early Childhood Education Teacher Mrs. Dixie Harvey. “Ayana is a third-year Early Childhood Education (ECE) student, and we are fortunate she has chosen to work in the Cougar Cubs Preschool this year as an Intern. She is an exceptional role model and a delight to work with. While Ayana is in the preschool center, she has created a supportive environment for the young children as well as the high school students who she mentors. Her interactions are positive and kind. Ayana is certified in CPR, First Aid, and has received her Food Handlers Certificate while in the ECE program. These are all the certifications needed to participate in this program. She is also a member of the FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) Career & Technical Student Organization (CTSO). Ayana has a quiet demeanor. She works exceptionally well with others, communicates clearly, and makes sure the needs of the children and students are performed promptly and efficiently. Anaya is and will continue to be an asset to any organization she chooses to be a part of.” Ayana’s parents are Mr. Rito Renteria and Mr. & Mrs. Shawn & Jazzmyn Rutledge, all of Casa Grande, Arizona. Over 1,624 students are enrolled in 13 different Career & Technical Education Programs throughout the Casa Grande Union High School District. Each month, a different CTE program nominates a deserving student for this honor. For past recipients, visit
