(CGUHS) Ms. Jessa Espartero's 11th Grade English Language Arts students had a really impactful learning experience with the Road Map to the Declaration of Independence activity. By reflecting on the struggles for freedom and independence, the students not only deepened their understanding of history, but also gained a greater appreciation for the freedom they enjoy today—thanks to the efforts of figures such as President Thomas Jefferson and others who fought against British colonial rule.
The fact that the students’ outputs were chosen by teachers based on creativity and content must have been incredibly rewarding. The added bonus of being exempted from the unit test is a wonderful incentive, and it’s no surprise that the students were thrilled by the recognition. It’s great to see their hard work and thoughtful contributions acknowledged in such a meaningful way.
