(CGUHS) Maxamus Wagner was recognized Monday, December 9, as the Career & Technical Education (CTE) Student of the Month during the district’s Governing Board meeting. Maxamus was nominated by his CTE Construction Technologies teacher, Mr. Michael Wagner.
“Of the seven (7) intern-level students, Max stands out above them all, not just in the fact he towers over most of them, but his leadership is called on more than others. He has made himself a person of experience and confidence and, when given an opportunity, he accepts the challenges, working through them steadily and finds successes in the small milestones for every new project. Max is a 4th-year student in Construction Technologies. He has accumulated his: OSHA 10, NCCER Credentials, OSHA 30, and Industrial Carpentry certificates through Central Arizona College, and led the TeamWorks crew in Atlanta this past summer. Max has also been a member of JV & Varsity Baseball with the nickname of “Moose”, and a member of the National Honors Society. He currently serves as the SkillsUSA Construction Technologies Vice President. Most recently, Max has taken on the capacity of a Teacher Assistant in the Construction Technologies program learning finer woodworking and how to diagnose and repair machines. He has successfully saved the program from purchasing two (2) new miter saws by replacing worn parts, saving about $1,400. It’s no surprise Max has such talents; it truly must be genetics that he is also smart and handsome. He intends to pursue a career in Construction Management, where he wants to make a ton of money watching other people work. Max has looked at Mesa Community College as a starting point with the potential to transfer to Arizona State University (ASU) or Northern Arizona University (NAU) right after high school as they were very impressed with his resume. With his ambition and degree in Construction Management, he will have many great opportunities ahead of him wherever he decides to make his mark."
Maxamus’ parents are Mr. Mathew & Alejandra Wagner of Casa Grande, Arizona.
Over 1,624 students are enrolled in 13 different Career & Technical Education programs throughout the Casa Grande Union High School District. Each month, a different CTE program nominates a deserving student for this honor.
