(CGUHS) Retiree recognition was given to GySgt Jesus "Gunny" Flores at the district’s Governing Board meeting on Monday, May 6. GySgt Flores has worked at CGUHSD for 21 years serving as a JROTC Marine Corps Instructor for 11 years at Casa Grande Union and 10 years at Vista Grande, where he has been the rifle teams coach. He coached wrestling for a couple of years at CGUHS, as well as being the lunch detention teacher for a couple of years at VGHS. There have been so many memories with so many wonderful students, but his favorite memories are the times he has received a letter or email from former students years later mentioning how he had made an impact on their lives. His advice is to listen to your students and give them the opportunity to express their feelings, thoughts, ideas, sorrows, and accomplishments. In turn, show and tell them some of your life’s experiences. Use your family and yourself as examples of what to do or what not to do. Have that open door policy. He is most looking forward to just not working. He and his wife do not have any plans set in stone, they just want the freedom to do what they want, whenever they want, without time constraints.
