(CGUHS) AP Literature students, led by Mrs. Murillo, hosted a two-day Literary Colloquium on April 24 and 30, titled “Beyond the Page: Identity, Memory, & Imagination in Literature.” The event offered students an opportunity to delve deeply into literature through critical analysis and collaborative presentation.
Divided into three groups, students were assigned different literary texts to explore. Each group examined key literary elements such as theme, tone, structure, and the author’s purpose. Using literary devices and various critical lenses, students developed and delivered individual presentations that contributed to their group’s overall analysis. Attendees were invited to provide feedback through evaluation forms, fostering a dynamic exchange between presenters and their audience.
The goal of the colloquium was to cultivate critical thinking, analytical writing, public speaking, and active listening—essential skills both for academic achievement and real-world communication. It also served as strategic preparation for the AP Literature exam, allowing students to practice close reading, text-based argumentation, and peer-led discussion in a high-engagement setting.
More than just a class project, the Literary Colloquium stands as a capstone experience that underscores intellectual growth, deepens literary appreciation, and celebrates the academic journey of our students.
