(CGUHS) Olivia Vance collected four hits in six at bats, as Cougar
Softball defeated Catalina Foothills 31-5 on Friday, March 21. Vance hit a solo home run to left field in the third inning, doubled in the fourth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
Cougars jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Mackayla Wallace singled, scoring two runs, Malea Urquides doubled, scoring one run, and Anevaya Caballero singled, scoring two runs.
Cougars added six more runs in the top of the third inning on two hits. Vance hit a solo home run to left field, four runs were scored due to errors, and Caballero singled, scoring one run.
Cougars scored eight runs on six hits in the top of the fourth inning. Three runs were scored due to errors, Juliet Jaquez singled, scoring one run, Marissa Sanchez singled, scoring one run, Vance doubled, scoring one run, a passed ball scored one run, and Izzy Castorena singled, scoring one run.

Sanchez grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Adyson McClintic singled, scoring one run, Castorena doubled, scoring two runs, Urquides singled, scoring one run, Sanchez doubled, scoring two runs, Jourdyn Adsuara doubled, scoring two runs, and Wallace homered to left field, scoring two runs.
Sanchez earned the win for the Cougars. The pitcher surrendered five hits and five runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking two. F Loya began the game for Catalina Foothills. The starting pitcher surrendered 23 hits and 31 runs (seven earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.
Cougars tallied 23 hits in the game. Sanchez, the number nine hitter for the Cougars, led the way with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-5 on the day.
