(CGUHS) For a quick start to a new lesson, “The Victorians Had the Same Concerns About Technology as We Do,” Ms. Jessa Espartero’s English 12 class was divided into groups. Students brainstormed about technologies they had been using and how much time they spent on smartphones and social media in a day. After 30 minutes of group discussion, students presented their findings to the class. Questions, such as “What would have happened without these tools?”, were asked and most answered that they would have been bored. However, some of them answered that the day would have been productive doing other things. The students also presented the pros (such as communication) and cons (such as living far beyond reality) of the effects of technology on teenagers today. Visit the English Department at
